Karl Lagerfeld has enlisted Willow Smith for Chanel’s latest eyewear campaign.
15 year old Willow Smith, or just ‘Willow’ as she’s preferred to be called, has propelled herself in the world of fashion, catching the eye of fashion muses and iconic figures in the industry like Karl Lagerfeld. For those of you who aren’t quite familiar with the star, she’s better known as daughter of Fresh Prince, Will Smith and sibling of Jaden Smith.
Back in March, Union Times had seen Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of Chanel, announce that Willow Smith would be the latest face of the French fashion house. Fast forward to this week when she was unveiled as the star of Chanel’s Autumn/Winter ’16 eyewear campaign. Mr Lagerfeld himself shot the campaign for the forthcoming season (he’s credited as being a photographer full time too.) It’s also not the first time the pair have worked together. Karl previously captured Willow Smith for V magazine back in 2014 and since then, the pair have formed a professional bond with the Whip My Hair artist appearing front row on many of the recent Chanel runway shows.
Willow Smith has previously modelled for Marc Jacobs and is signed to The Society Management in New York and Elite Paris.
“Swathed in jewels from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear collection, she breathes new energy into the world of Chanel eyewear,” read the brand’s statement.
