Westfield shopping centre evacuated after fire breaks out

Hundreds of shoppers had to evacuate  from Westfield shopping centre in Stratford after a fire broke out.

Footage shows smoke rising from the service area of the centre, while alarm bells ring.

Shoppers were outside the building on the roads and firefighters put the fire out after 1pm.

People were later allowed back into the shopping centre once shops and restaurants had re-opened.
London Fire Brigade stated:

‘We responded to a call from the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford at 12:49pm that reported a fire.
‘Three fire engines attended to the incident.
‘On the scene they found a small fire in the service yard at the premises. The fire was put out and the incident was over at 1:06pm.’
