Washington Wildfire Destroys Homes

A wildfire in central Washington spreads to 3,000 acres destroying at least 23 homes.

Triggering an evacuation, several hundred homes were in the eastern Cascades were abandoned.

Burning ruins of homes in Wenatchee triggers another fire into a recycling centre creating further flames to spread through the town.

The cause of the fire undetermined. State Officials have banned any personal use of fireworks and outdoor fires in parks or forests during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Two firefighters have suffered injuries from the flames. Fire crews are unable to identify containment lines around the fire.

State patrol official states: “We had a couple of pretty good rain storms that knocked it down a bit for us” in the area has benefited from the heavy showers; however forecasted high temperatures bring fear of flames increasing strength.

Last year Washington experience record breaking wildfires torching 250,000 acres. According to the Natural Resources Department, more than 300 wildfires have occurred so far this year.
