In a very clever and long-awaited move, Victoria Beckham has finally began work on a high street collection. This time, with US retail giant ‘Target.’
Collaborating with the retail giant that is Target, the pop-star turned designer is set to release a limited edition collection of high-street wear. The couturier is just as eager to create the line as it will see her audience reach expand due to a lower price point for the apparel i.e. a wider market who can afford her designer price tag. Target, the US store, has long been known for its bargains and popular purchases. Speaking of the move to Business of Fashion, Victoria said:
These are women that I haven’t been able to reach out to in the past, and I always say that I want to empower women and make women look like the best versions of themselves. That shouldn’t be only people who can afford to spend a certain amount of money.
Inspired by the Victoria, Victoria Beckham line it will consist of over 200 pieces and for the first time, will see the designer branch into childrenswear. The ready-to-wear collection will of course be inclusive of womenswear and accessories too, the perfect combination for Target customers. Mrs Beckham also hinted before and again at the Target announcement that childrenswear is an area she wants to expand her skills in. For those of us in the UK and outside of the US, she will be selling key pieces from the new range on her eponymous website, VictoriaBeckham.com.
On April 19th of next year, the limited-edition collection by Victoria Beckham for Target will go on sale in-store and online and will only run until April 30th; 11 days for fans to flock to Target. However, we have a feeling it will sell out sooner than expected.
