Surpassing Kim Kardashian earlier this month, Taylor Swift is the owner of the most followed account on Instagram. Swift has certainly kept our eyes pealed for what she has in store, particularly after the release of her hugely successful album 1989. However it is the tour following her album that has kept it almost impossible for Swift to step away from the limelight. As well as performing with great fervour, Swift has been surprising her fans with special celebrity guests.
Swift’s laborious preparation has been evident through every iota of her performances, as we see Swift’s authentic and innovative tactics to veer away from a traditional and predictable album tour. After teaming up with our generation’s most sought after A-list gal pals, such as Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Zendaya, and etc, for her star-studded music video Bad Blood, Swift encompasses a similar strategy in her 1989 tour as many popular celebs have taken the stage with her. A strategy that has resulted in an ebullient crowd reaction, fans are agog to know who will hit the stage next, as the list follows names such as Justin Timberlake, Leona Lewis, Wiz Khalifa, Avril Lavigne, and even Mick Jagger! Taylor Swift even shared a video on Twitter of a 72-year-old grandma unable to contain her excitement as she sees Mick Jagger on stage; Swift tweets “Why I like bringing out surprise special guests on tour.” There is no doubt Swift seeks to stun her fans in efforts to connect as well as entertain them to the best of her ability.
However Swift’s collaboration with Lisa Kudrow was by far my favourite, as they performed an acoustic rendition of “Smelly Cat,” a classic track sung by Kudrow’s famous character “Phoebe Buffay” in the iconic TV Show Friends- who doesn’t love Friends? The brief performance was absolutely touching, as Friends fans were able to once again take pleasure in reminiscing the beloved show.
