Morrissey for Mayor? Singer May Run For Animal Welfare Party

Morrissey has said that he is considering an offer from the Animal Welfare Party to stand as their nominee for Mayor of London. The singer, who has a long history of expressing strident political views, issued a statement to the True To You website confirming his potential candidacy, in which he spoke of Nazis, animal torture and child sacrifice.

The singer's statement criticised animal welfare groups that "persist simply to persist" and urged upon them the need for a serious attempt to gain a voice in government, rather than sitting around and waiting for the establishment to gain "enlightenment." “There must be a governmental voice against the hellish and archaic social injustice allotted to animals in the United Kingdom simply because those animals do not speak English.”, he said.
