Obama secures Iran nuclear deal with Barbara Mikulski vote

U.S. President Barack Obama has today secured a victory in the senate, following a vote on the Iran nuclear deal, due to the backing of Democrat Barbara Mikulski.

In what has been described as "legacy-defining", Obama has no managed to collect 34 votes to back his plan to sustain the Iran nuclear deal; the amount required by the constitution to sustain a veto in senate.

Speaking about her vote, Mikulski stated that the Iran deal was "the best option available to block Iran from having a nuclear bomb", insisting that "no deal is perfect, especially one negotiated with the Iranian regime."

The Iran nuclear deal currently means that Iran is unable to build nuclear weapons, however are able to have nuclear power. U.S. weapons inspectors have 24 hour a day access to all of Iran's weapons factories also, with the hope that this would mean Iran would not be able to have a chance of creating weapons of mass destruction.
