Supergirl Has Crashed Landed on The CW Breaking Records on Her Way

Following the transition from CBS to The CW for its second season, Supergirl is already breaking records and making a big impression for the network. The show premiered to 3.024 million viewers, which is The CW’s highest rating in that time slot in over eight years! It’s the best for the adults 18-49 rating in nearly six years and its highest adults rating 18-34 in five years! With this said, the first season, which was aired on CBS was hardly dreadful, not by a mile. The characters were enjoyable and some moments generated the needed excitement, yet from start to finish it just seemed all a bit bland and never really got the wheels rolling. However, with The CW in control, it looks like will be getting the Supergirl that we deserve.

The series premier of Supergirl however, still fell just short of The Flash’s season 3 premier ratings, which gained 3.2 million total viewers, but the girl of steel did manage to exceed the ratings of Arrow’s lacklustre fifth season premier, which only brought in just 1.9 million total viewers.

Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as the titled character. Alongside the Kryptonian, we have Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater.

Supergirl season two is also adding recurring roles for Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer, Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, and Lynda Carter as the President of the United States.

Having read a number of the viewers comments for the opening episode it was a surprise to see a majority of them being positive. A lot commenting on how good Tyler Hoechlin was as Superman and how enjoyable it was to watch both cousins fight side by side.

Here’s a sneak peak of the first episode of season 2- The Adventures of Supergirl

Supergirl is yet to be aired in the UK, but in the states it airs at 8pm, Mondays on The CW.
