Andy Murray Marches Into Madrid Open Semi-Finals

Andy Murray produced a dominant display in his quarter-final match against world number eight Thomas Berdych to set up a showdown with Rafael Nadal.

The Scot was in fine form as he put Berdych to the sword in a display that can easily be considered his best of the season, triumphing 6-3 6-2 in just one hour and 16 minutes.

Murray won his first clay tournament in 2015 in Madrid after producing a breathtaking display to beat Nadal in the final in straight sets. The world number two will take heart from this, despite losing to the Spaniard in a tight affair at the Monte-Carlo Masters last month.

Nadal, however, has been in imperious form since the clay season began, winning his previous two tournaments before he heads to Roland Garros with the hope of claiming a tenth title. What was expected to be a highly competitive semi-final and final (in the opinion of the current ...
