We know, we know! Don’t blame the messenger but we must inform you that yes, Selfridges have indeed kicked off the 2016 festivities by opening their Christmas shop in August. You can read more below ✋
Now most of us love Christmas, agreed? The lights, the family bonding sessions, the food and the shopping are all part and parcel of the holiday. The atmosphere is like no other and a stroll through your local department store, like Selfridges for example, is a must. Soaking up that feel-good factor about town while you unnecessarily fill your shopping basket with truck loads of everything and anything.
Selfridges are about to extend that joyful shopping period for all you eager customers as London’s prestigious Oxford Street department store officially opened its Christmas doors for August. Yes, you read correctly. The store is the first to do so this year. With an increasing demand from visiting clients, or so they say, the fourth floor of Selfridges has been transformed into a children’s paradise decorated to the brim with 50,000 seasonal ornaments. The woman with the all important job of buying such merchandise said the business was ”in full festive mode.” Geraldine James had this to say:
We have so many customers visiting from all over the world and eager to snap up festive souvenirs on their summer holidays, which they can’t buy at home. So, we have to make sure we’re ready to showcase Christmas decorations they will truly treasure.
So does this type of premature Christmas spirit ruin your holiday fun or is it perhaps just very convenient to have an early lead on your Christmas list/duties? With less than 144 shopping days to go, Selfridges are the first to welcome shopping enthusiasts with open arms.
