The star has revealed that he has recorded the theme tune to the next James Bond film, ‘Spectre.’
After posting hints to fans on Twitter, including an image of a ring featuring the infamous ‘Spectre’ logo, the artist announced on the site that he was “honoured” to be “singing the next Bond theme song.”
Smith revealed the title of the track, ‘Writing’s on the Wall’, along with a message stating that he hoped fans “enjoy the song as much as he enjoyed making it.”
The news may come to a surprise to some as the singer has been denying any involvement in the recording of the single since July; most recently in an interview on Radio 2 where he stated “that’s definitely not me.”
The new theme was co-written by Smith and Jimmy Napes, who previously worked together on the star’s hit song ‘Stay With Me.’
Electric duo, Disclosure, later posted an image of the black and white single cover to Instagram with the caption “so honoured to have added some additional production to this amazing song.”
‘Writing’s on the Wall’ is available to pre-order here and is set to be released 25th September.
‘James Bond: Spectre’, which sees Daniel Craig return for his fourth performance as the spy, opens in Cinemas 6th November.
