High street favourite River Island will be launching its first activewear collection this May, described as a stylish sportswear range that’s designed to work as hard as you do.
Titled RI Active, the range will consist of 23 pieces that combine both style and comfort for the fashion-conscious gym goer. The urban-inspired collection will feature slogans, camouflage prints and colourful sport details alongside durable and structured fabrics.
Speaking exclusively to Vogue, RI designer Hannah Hope said, ‘“We have used breathable and active stretch fabrics for maximum comfort with all of the styles being ergonomically designed to flatter and support the body, for example deep waistbands for sculpting the body; special seaming; and double layered fabrics.”
The clothes will come in sizes 6 – 18 and will include crop tops, leggings, vests, fleeces, shorts and more. The move follows the increasing demand from consumers for sports and leisure wear, something high-street retailers are beginning to pick up on what with the recent announcement of Beyonce’s athleisure-wear with Topshop owner Sir Philip Green and competitor New Look launching its sportswear range at the end of last year.
The trend is leaving us with no excuses for not heading to the gym and comes at the perfect time as the summer season approaches.
RI Active will be available both instore and online at http://www.riverisland.com/women/ri-active from May.
