Some users have argued that Reddit is acting against its free speech principles. The site has seen a week of controversy after Reddit CEO Ellen Pao removed several of the sites hateful subreddits. A Change.org petition reaching 200,000 signatures, protesting against her ‘totalitarian’ approach successfully removed the ex-CEO, who was replaced by Steve Huffman.
The majority of Reddit’s content “comes from wonderful, creative, funny, smart, and silly communities,” Huffman said, but added, “There is also a dark side, communities whose purpose is reprehensible, and we don’t have any obligation to support them.
