Processed meats like bacon, sausages and ham cause cancer says the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Reportedly 50g of processed meat a day can increase the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%. Processed meat includes: bacon, sausages, hot dogs, salami, corned beef, beef jerky and ham. Processed meat is salted and cured with chemicals to preserve its taste and shelf life.
Red meats were also “probably carcinogenic”.
Cancer Research UK said that it is wise to cut down but not give up entirely on red and processed meats.
