Prison Break is officially returning on Fox with a 10 episode series run, reports have confirmed.
Streaming giant Netflix can be held responsible for Prison Break’s continuous success as a cult series on the website, after its hugely successful four year run from 2005 – 2009.
Gary Newman, Fox’s CEO and chairman, confirmed the news at the TCAs in Pasadena. Newman was quick to reveal that stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be back alongside the original creator Paul Scheuring.
According to the Wrap Newman stated: “Once we have those written materials, I feel confident we’ll go straight to series with that one.”
“It picks up with the characters several years after we left them in the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back.” Another spokesman for Fox – Dana Walden added.
Although, Walden explained that there is still some confusion among the creators in terms of which direction the new series should go, but one thing they’re certain of is that it certainly won’t follow the path of the 2009 spin-off film.
She stated: “I don’t think Paul knows exactly where it’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it will address some of the questions from the original show but also appeal to new audiences.”
