French officials have identified the suspected ringleader of the Paris attacks as Belgian Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
The 29-year-old was already suspected of planning previous attacks in Europe.
Abaaoud is believed to have financed and organised the atrocities.
He is also linked to the thwarted attacks on a Paris-bound high speed train and a church in the Paris area.
“He appears to be the brains behind several planned attacks in Europe,” a source close to the investigation told Reuters.
Abaaoud was born in Molenbeek, Belgium – a suburb area of Brussels described as a hotbed of terrorist activity, but he is of Moroccan origin.
Last night 160 raids were carried out across France and Belgian.
