An eighteen-month-old Palestinian toddler has been burnt alive in an arson attack by suspected Jewish extremists in a West Bank village in Israel.
Ali Saad Dawabsha was asleep with his family when the attackers wrote graffiti on the house and then threw firebombs into the building on Friday morning.
The parents of Ali Saad Dawabsheh and his four-year-old brother were also injured in the attack, and suffered up to 75% burns.
The Israel army issued a statement saying that they were trying to locate the suspects.
“This attack against civilians is nothing short of a barbaric act of terrorism. A comprehensive investigation is under way in order to find the terrorists and bring them to justice,”.
“The [Israeli army] strongly condemns this deplorable attack and has heightened its efforts in the field to locate those responsible.”
The Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) tweeted on Friday morning that the attack was the “direct consequence of decades of impunity given by the Israeli government to settler terrorism”.
There has been widespread condemnation and an outpouring of grief online over the attack.
