A mummified captain was found in a boat drifting 40 miles from the shore. The man was identified as German adventurer Manfred Fritz Bajorat.
His body, frozen in time was discovered by two fishermen on the weekend in the seas off Surigao del Sur province, about 50 miles off Philippines.
No one had seen Bajorat since 2009.
The corpse was found seated attending to a radio, preserved by dry ocean winds and the salty air.
Officials haven’t ruled out foul play as some of the possessions may have been ‘damaged by force’. Another theory is that he suffered from a heart attack.
A year before his voyage he had split from his wife who used to venture with him, however she cannot supply any information due to her own death.
