2016 has sadly signalled the shadow of death for many celebrities as we’ve said goodbye to cherished legends including Sir Terry Wogan, Alan Rickman and David Bowie to name a few.
News that popular Magician, Paul Daniels has been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour has added to the morbidity that the year has been offering, so far. News of Daniels’ terminal illness broke at the weekend and the family of the 77 year old performer have asked for privacy at this time.
Paul Daniels made his debut on Opportunity Knocks in 1970, following this break, eventually The Paul Daniels Magic Show became a regular programme on the BBC and ran for 15 years. His popular catchphrases “That’s Magic” and “You’ll Like This – Not A Lot” are still remembered, today. He married his assistant, Debbie McGee and they have remained husband and wife for 28 years. A record for a marriage born out of show business!
Daniels and McGee also starred in Wizbit from 1986 – 1988, a children’s programme about an alien magician. Daniels’ Son, Martin Daniels also starred in the programme and has followed in his father’s footsteps as a Magician and Entertainer by profession. It has been said that Martin has cut short his own show in South America to be with his family.
No further comments are anticipated following the breaking story on Saturday.
