Lupita Nyong’o has reportedly had her role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens cut down significantly.
Director JJ Abrams was left unimpressed with her performance as Maz Kanata a space pirate alien.
The actress has won an Oscar for 12 Years A Slave back in 2013. The problem came with the motion capture used to bring the CGI alien to life.
Speaking to The Sun, a Star Wars insider said: ‘The CGI seemed to be what Lupita struggled with, perhaps because it meant she felt less of a connection to the character.
‘There was a general sense that something wasn’t working so a lot of her scenes ended up being either re-worked or cut. Unfortunately she just didn’t end up delivering.
‘It does happen in Hollywood, but not usually with Academy Award winners. Her part in the final film will now be a lot smaller than was initially expected.
