Lexus release video of new hoverboard

Lexus has been teasing it for a while, but now the company has finally shown a live demonstration of its hoverboard in action.

Powered by magnets and nitrogen, the board requires a metal surface to levitate. The liquid nitrogen is there to cool the superconductors to -321 degrees Fahrenheit, which explains why there is steam shooting out of the edges.

Pro skater Ross McGouran is seen falling over plenty of times on what is essentially a maglev train, which we have seen at scientific demonstrations frequently.

So the gadget doesn’t have the versatility of the one we saw in Back to the Future II, but maybe Lexus have taken the first step to the future of skating.
