Comedy Central’s Key & Peele will come to a close after its fifth season run this September.
TheWrap.com reports that Keegan-Michael Key, who is the co-star and also the co-creator of the sketch comedy series has confirmed that Season 5 of his show will be in fact the last in the much loved series.
Key informed the site that he and fellow creator Jordan Peele made the decision to end the award winning comedy show.
Key stated: “This is our final season, and it’s not because of Comedy Central, it’s us. It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart. I compare it to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie.”
He further explained that all the Season 5 episodes have been filmed, and the series will come to an end in September this year.
So, that’s it guys. After this year expect no more Luther the Anger Translator, Substitute Teacher, Meegan, and vice versa.
Unless… Key and Jordan decide to revisit these beloved characters in a movie form?
Recently, the speculations surrounding the duo being involved in various movie projects has been reported, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether any of the show’s characters will make their way on to the big screen.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
