It’s been some time in the works but the world’s most famous supermodel, Kate Moss, has finally given more details on the talent management company she’s set to launch. ‘Kate Moss Agency’ was officially unveiled within Business of Fashion‘s special edition October issue.
Kate Moss is someone who’s renowned all over the world for her career. Up until recently, she’s been the most famous in-demand model of the 21st century and now she’s getting ready to utilise her expertise on the other side of the camera. It’s Kate Moss’ world and she’s going to conquer it.
Speaking to Business of Fashion, Kate said: ”I don’t really want pretty people, I want people that want to sing and dance and act — I want to create stars.” The website reports that the former model and now budding businesswoman will see new and yet to be named talent represented as models while Kate works alongside a growing, well-respected team within Kate Moss Agency to build their respective careers. Instagram also welcomed the move with the new CEO signing her business up in the hope they’ll be able to compete with the so-called ‘Instagirls’ i.e. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. The company’s profile will see a focus on Kate with selected images chosen for publishing but a wider lens on each individual protégée she will take under her wing.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Kate was departing Storm after 28 years signed to the agency that nurtured her modelling livelihood. At just 14 years of age, Moss was discovered by Sarah Doukas, Storm founder, at JFK Airport in New York. Kate’s half sister, Lottie, is also signed to the same agency at present.”I felt like I wanted to do things that were more than modelling,” Kate said of her exodus. ”It didn’t matter how much we would try and do it together with them, I was always going to be the little Kate that they’ve known since I was 14. It was like leaving home. I had to leave, and they were very understanding about it. They were like, ‘Yeah you’ve got to go now, we’ve done as much as we can do.’ I wanted to spread my wings.” The adieu to Storm will additionally let Kate Moss expand her lifestyle brand. Reportedly, she has many lucrative deals lined up for the future and we can only assume it will consist of collaborations and design projects.
Kate Moss might be seen as a former model now, but she’s by no means going anywhere. Watch this space!
