Alongside retail giant Topshop, Beyoncé was the driving force in the creation of Ivy Park; an empowering athleisure label, now with over 115 alternate pieces from leggings to bodysuits and parkas to sliders. Here we take a look at what the Ivy Park summertime collection has to offer.
As the latest from the Ivy Park athleisure range was unveiled this week, the brand’s Creative Director, Karen Langley, spoke to Vogue Magazine about what the second collection from Topshop and Beyoncé has to offer sportswear fans and/or indeed the casual ‘anything that she does’ Beyoncé fan.
“Launching an activewear brand with authentic fashion credentials inspires girls to work out and get excited about investing time and effort in themselves, for themselves. Feeling good plays a huge role in the Ivy Park girl looking good. Being physically strong and healthy naturally promotes empowerment.”
The brand’s inspiration was all about gaining empowerment, and as we all know, that’s what Beyoncé has endeavoured on with her career as an artist and as a designer. Her latest album, Lemonade, was released on Black History Month and associated with the Black Lives Matter movement, thus creating some controversy. However, it only drove the Formation singer on to create bigger and better things. In her first interview with Elle, post Lemonade, she defended what the American police believe was targeted defamation by saying: ”anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice.”
The Ivy Park summer collection is available in Topshop stores and online now.
