Hundreds of migrants are feared to have drowned after their boat that was trying to reach Europe capsized off the coast of Libya.

The Italian coast guard said that 25 bodies have been recovered so far but it is still unclear just how many people are still missing.

So far this year, more than 2000 migrants have died trying to reach Europe across the Mediterranean sea, making it the worlds most deadly border area. This time last year, the number of deaths was around 1600.
The boat ran into trouble after it hit rough weather around 15 miles (25km) from Libya’s coast.
According to the IOM Approximately 188,000 migrants have been rescued in the Mediterranean so far this year.
