With Winter around the corner, it’s time to bid farewell to the old season and transition our wardrobes.
The word ‘Winter’ is mostly associated with snow, chilly temperatures, freezing winds, and it almost becomes a mission to find a way to stay warm when it’s cold outside.
However, the fashion world makes the arrival of the cold season more enjoyable!
The keyword for the Fall/Winter collections is ‘retro’.
Many summer trends have been revisited and updated for the season.
High collars and frills remind us of the Victorian Era. Groovy prints, Bohemian silhouettes, suede and velvet bring us back to the late 60s and 70s. Thanks to puffy sleeves and oversized sweaters, we can also take a glimpse of the 80s.
Black isn’t the only choice. Bold colours such as yellow and orange and pastel and earthy shades are a favourite to try this season.
But is it really possible to stay stylish in Winter? The answer is yes.
Even if you don’t want to follow any trend, thanks to some of these tips you won’t have to give up your fashion sense and wrap yourself in bland clothes anymore.
Let’s see what to do to face the cold in style.
Layers are your best friend
Layering is the easiest and most practical way to go for the whole season. Bring out an oversized jumper or a graphic T-shirt and wear it over your favourite blouse or a fitted turtleneck. If you want something simple, that’s both casual and elegant, choose a cardigan. It goes with anything! You can also try to swap black tights for a pair of leggings or trousers. Wear them with any kind of dresses and skirts.
Accessorise your outfit
Hats, scarves and gloves are definitely a must. Try a range of different styles and fabrics. Alternate your wool beanie with a stylish fedora. Wear a tube scarf and a pair of gloves of your choice, like leather or cute mittens!
Show off your boots
This is the right time to wear your favourite pair of boots. Pick something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Riding boots, cowboy boots, wellies etc. are all just fine. Opting for a 80s vibe? Try ankle boots with long socks. Do you prefer a 70s style? Wear knee/thigh high styles. You can also pair your boots with flared trousers.
Invest in a coat that will protect you from the cold and and complete all of your outfits. For example, the classic, elegant camel coat has recently made a comeback. Capes are perfect for layering. Or what about a shearling coat? If you prefer something simple for every day wear, go for a leather or a bomber jacket.
Wear faux fur
Faux fur will keep you cosy and stylish. Choose from a variety of clothing such as stoles, vests or gloves and boots with fur accents. It will add something special to a simple outfit. Why don’t you try a black cape paired with a furry headband?
These are some basic tips for the winter, but you can really try anything you like.
