A gunman has killed two people at the Grande Theatre cinema in Louisiana before shooting himself dead.
Police said they knew the identity of the 58-year-old “lone white male” shooter but were not releasing it yet.
Seven people were injured, described as having injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to critical.
Theatregoers had been 20 minutes into a screening of the film Trainwreck when the gunman began firing just after 7pm local time.
The shooting comes three years after recently convicted killer James Holmes opened fire during a showing of a Batman film in Aurora, Colorado.
