‘Force Friday’ – Star Wars fans flock to shops

‘Star Wars’ fans were out in full force last night to be the first to get their hands on the franchise’s new, official merchandise.

From America to Australia, people all the around the world queued outside toy stores last night for the shops’ special midnight openings. These fancy-dress clad fans, including more than 300 from the UK, were keen to be among the first to purchase merchandise from the new film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. The most popular toys being talking figurines of characters Finn and Kylo Ren, which feature actual dialogue from the upcoming film, and an interactive figure of the new drone BB-8.

Shoppers waiting outside the Disney Store on Oxford Street, London were joined by Storm Troopers and R2-D2, whilst stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega visited the store ahead of the midnight opening to get a first look at their own character’s action figures.

Don’t panic if you weren’t amongst the midnight rush, it has been assured that all merchandise will be readily available throughout the Christmas build-up.

The film, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, which sees the return of Harrison Ford as Han Solo, is the first in a trilogy to be released by Disney and will be in Cinemas 18th December 2015.
