The singer has signed a large-scale recording deal in the United States after securing lucrative television appearances and increasing chart success. Fleur East came second in the X Factor UK back in 2014, losing out to Ben Haenow.
‘Sax’ singer, Fleur East, has bagged herself a major American recording deal. She will sign with Sony Music’s Columbia Records which has catapulted stars such as Adele, One Direction and even Prince, who passed away last month, to fame.
Hailing from Walthamstow, Fleur auditioned as a solo act for the enviable X Factor in 2014 on front of Simon Cowell, Mel B, Cheryl and Louis Walsh singing Ordinary People by John Legend. She progressed through the show’s process that followed which included a memorable version of Jessie J’s ‘Bang Bang’ at Judge’s Houses with Simon Cowell being the singer’s mentor. At Live Shows, the most successful song of the 2014 series was a rendition of ‘Uptown Funk’ (originally by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson) sung and performed by Fleur East. It subsequently went to number 1 on the UK iTunes charts with critics raving about the ”most exciting moment” of X Factor 2014. While she did lose out to Ben Haenow in the final, she has went on to be more successful than the winner. Haenow was since dropped from Simon Cowell’s label, Syco Music.
Fleur’s success on the show was surely aided by her past appearance on X Factor. She was a member of girl band ‘Addictiv Ladies’ who competed in 2005 at series 2 of the show but eliminated in week 1 of the Live Shows. She has worked with DJ Fresh, performed at various festivals such as T4 on the Beach, V Festival and iTunes festival and was even signed up to the label ‘Strictly Rhythm’ in 2012 resulting in the release of her EP, She, in 2013. After much admiration of her time on the X Factor 2014, Simon Cowell signed Fleur East to ‘Syco Music’ in January of last year and the star debuted her first album ‘Love, Sax and Flashbacks’ with the first single ‘Sax’ reaching number 3 in the UK charts and over 30 million YouTube views so far.
Fleur posted on Twitter yesterday disclosing she will be performing the single ‘Sax’ at US show, Dancing With The Stars, on the ABC channel. After her Columbia Records news and inevitable hit US career, you’re sure to soon see Fleur East dominate the music charts.
