Alessandro Michele has breathed new life into the brand since taking over the reigns at Gucci in 2015.
Exclusive to etailer Net-A-Porter, Alessandro centred the collection around the everyday serious fashionista and anyone who wants a little Gucci in their life. The 20 piece capsule, from £120 phone cases to a £2,740 evening gown launching on May 12th, will envelop ready-to-wear, accessories and shoes, WWD reports, and will include a modern interpretation of Gucci classics such as the Dionysus bag and Ace trainers. There will be £600 sweaters featuring the embroidered heron that’s fast becoming a new Gucci trope, £500 pleated skirts, embellished cardigans, a reworking of the best-selling Dionysus bag and plenty of those £300 plus fringed loafers.
“Our customer cannot seem to get enough of Gucci,” Alison Loehnis, president of Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter commented. “Working on the exclusive project has been a thrill and we’re incredibly excited to be launching this global first on Net-A-Porter. Alessandro has an immense talent and vision and as we’ve come to expect from him, the collection is exquisite.”
