Lorraine Cheshire ~ From Joan to Geraldine Via Sue!

Starting a professional acting career when you're not straight out of school is no bad thing. The proof of that statement comes in the form of rising star, actress Lorraine Cheshire.

She's instantly recognisable these days as the calm and caring Midwife, Geraldine in Kay Mellor's In The Club. With two series under her belt, now she was already on Mellor's radar prior to this latest brainchild, having played a Nurse in Fat Friends in 2004.

It's been a steady rise to fame for the bubbly Northern lass as she honed her craft, mostly in comedy performances on television programmes such as Phoenix Nights, Having It Off and not forgetting Early Doors. Lorraine played Joan in the series and I felt that she was given the perfect platform to shine.

Far from a one-trick pony, though, Fleur Budgen in Waterloo Road secured her position as an actress capable of playing a variety of genres. Both Doctors and Casualty provided further opportunity for a demonstration of the depths of talent that the not so new kid on the block has to offer.
