Doc and Marty travelled on this day October 21, 2015 in Back to the future II

Yes it was on this day that inventor Doc Brown and Marty Mcfly travelled to the ‘future’ in Back to the Future II (1989).

Today people are celebrating #BackToTheFutureDay.

While we don’t have hover cars which seem to be widely available in Back the Future’s 2015..

We do have a hover boards (kind of) which float with the aid of magnets.

A real hover board, don’t be fooled its only works (barely) on a magnetic floor.

We also have numerous sequels, made by Hollywood who want to guarantee ticket sales instead of producing original ideas. This was shown in a hyperbole fashion with ‘Jaws 19’ in Back to the Future.

And we can’t forget wearable technology (which they also predicted would make people anti-social), fingerprint scanning technology and video calling.

Who else might have played  Marty McFly and Doc Brown?

Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd

It is well known that the first film in the franchise was re-shot months into production after Eric Stolz didn’t work out as Marty. But C. Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio were also considered.

For the role of Doc Brown a number of potential eccentric actors were considered: Jeff Goldblum, John Cleese, Gene Hackman, James Woods and Harold Ramis were all considered.

We are just glad they got it right the first time.

The Doc also had a message on this very special day.
