Comic Con: What have we learnt?

San Diego’s annual Comic Con provides gamers, comic lovers and  sci-fi fans with treats and inside information every time. As ever, the scope of revelations was vast.

Here are the most important.


1. The return of Blade

American actor, Wesley Snipe, confirmed that he has spoken with Marvel to reprise his previous role as the 90s vampire slayer.
Snipe’s daughter, Fallon Grey, shall also be starring in a new Blade series.

4. No more Jon Snow

When asked during who was going to miss Kit Harrington’s character Jon Snow the most following the shocking finale to series five, the cast were less than gushing.
Said Conleth Hill (Varys), ‘his hairdresser’.

5. The return of Han Solo

Comic Con saw actor Harrison Ford make his first public appearance following his plane crash a few months ago.

6. Behind Star Wars

Behind-the-scenes footage of the upcoming revival of Star Wars was previewed. The sneak-peek featured Simon Pegg and Lupita Nyong’o.

7. Stories behind Crimson Peak

It was revealed that the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming movie Crimson Peak were given elaborate back stories.
‘It was a 10-page life story with my star sign and my date of birth and the secrets that I don’t want to tell anyone and a horrible time I had with my aunt when I was 13’, said Tom Hiddleston, ‘that kind of detail is what you should have with every character, every time you play.’

8. Superman vs Batman trailer

A Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer was unveiled by stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.

9. X-Men revelations

Oscar Isaac’s character Apocalypse will be protected in the film by his four Horsemen – Angel (Ben Hardy), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn) – after he brainwashes them into servitude.

10. Deadpool applauded

The trailer for the upcoming Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds, was revealed and received a standing ovation.

11. The end of Wolverine

Long time X-Men star Hugh Jackman announced that the third stand-alone Wolverine film will be the last. According to the Australian star, he is too old for superhero films.

13. American Horror Story characters revealed

American Horror Story: Hotel has kept much of its information secret. However, the names of the characters has been revealed at this year’s Comic Con. Angela Bassett is Ramona, Katy Bates is Iris,  Evan Peters is Mr March, Matt Bomer is Donovan and Sarah Paulson is Hyperdermic Sally.

14. Boyhood Barthood

Christmas time will see The Simpson’s tackle a spoof of the award-winning film Boyhood – focussing on Bart.

15. Danger Mouse of House Lannister


Lena Heady, Cersei Lannister of Game of Thrones, will take on the role of Danger Mouse in the British series as a voice actor.

16. Murray magic

Whilst promoting his film Rock the Cazbah, Hollywood star Bill Murray managed to get the entire crowd to sing.

17. Walking Dead prequel trailer revealed
