Abdelhamid Abaaoud the Belgian jihadi suspected of masterminding the deadly attacks in Paris was killed in a police raid on a suburban apartment building, the city prosecutor’s office has said.
His body was found full of bullets in the apartment in the northern suburb.
The Belgian national, 28, was identified from his fingerprints.
Friday’s gun and suicide bomb attacks in the French capital left 129 people dead and hundreds injured.
A woman who was also in the flat blew herself up with an explosive belt during the raid. Eight people were arrested.
According to an official, one of the officers had asked: ‘Where is your boyfriend?’ and she responded angrily: ‘He’s not my boyfriend!’
She then detonated the explosives.
The bodies recovered in the raid were in bad form, with the woman’s spine and head landing on a police car, which complicated formal identification.
Her exact relationship with Abaaoud has not been confirmed.
