Fashion week is upon us and designers are ready to present their new collections, bringing some big changes to the fashion world.
At New York Fashion Week, for example, alongside the Spring/Summer 2017 shows we’ll be able to see capsule collections immediately available to purchase and the famous ‘see now, buy now’ trend, with a new format created specially for the ‘internet generation’.
But with autumn just around the corner, it’s time for us to make the wardrobe transition from summer to fall.
According to Google, many trends from the past season will stay with us during the cold months, so let’s check out the 5 must-haves.
The most elegant and luxurious fabric, velvet has been a favourite on the runways lately, from Balmain to Valentino, and it’s now considered the major fall fashion trend. Look for dresses, blazers, skirts, pants, even shoes such as boots and flats with velvety details. Choose bold colours for a cool ’80s/rock & roll look, or dark autumn shades like blue, mustard, burnt orange and classic black for a touch of elegance.
Metallic Pleated Skirts
Don’t be afraid to wear metallic clothing on non-special occasions. Beautiful pleated silver, gold and rose gold skirts are perfect for casual or day-to-night outfits. Try wearing one with a blouse for an office look, or pair it with a simple comfy sweater and a pair of boots for a stroll around the city.
This spring/summer trend isn’t going anywhere, also thanks to A-listers like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid who love this style. Update your off-the-shoulder tops and dresses just by adding some fall details like long sleeves, darker colours and floral prints. Wear a long-sleeved Bardot top with a pair of high-waisted jeans or a bohemian dress with brown boots.
The bomber is the must-have jacket of the season. A beloved Spring/Summer trend, seen on Louis Vuitton, Gucci and many more catwalks, we can choose from classic khaki green or pink, silk, velvet and embroidered/printed bombers that will accompany us for a long time.
Spotted at the Yeezy Season 2 show, these hybrid of socks and boots come in a variety of styles, such as ankle, midi, knee and thigh-high length, PVC, leather, and suede with chunky heels. Sock boots are tight and fitted, very chic and easy to wear. Wear them with denim, skirts, dresses and cropped pants.
