World known and Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was aboard a private plane when it was forced to make an emergency landing. Both the star and the pilot were unhurt.
The incident happened in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on Saturday. The SJ30 jet blew a tyre during its take-off.
The plane was forced to make a landing in Tunica, about 40 miles (65km) away, where it went off the runway.
In a statement, the 78-year-old actor said : “Sometimes things don’t go as planned and a tyre blew on take-off, which caused other problems.”
“But thanks to my excellent pilot Jimmy Hobson we landed safely without a scratch.
“I cannot say the same about my plane. I appreciate the concern and prayers for our safety”, M. Freeman continued.
Hollywood star has been nominated for impressive total of seven Oscars for films such as Driving Miss Daisy, Street Smart and Invictus. He won most the renown acting prize in 2005 for his role in Million Dollar Baby from director Clint Eastwood.
