21 year old gunman shot dead after school killing spree

A 21 year old man has been shot dead by armed police after entering a school in Kronan, Sweden in an effort to ‘slay’ its teachers and students. Kronan is located in an area of Trollhattan with a diverse population and many of the pupils are first or second generation immigrants.

The school for ages of pre-school to year 9 was entered by the masked 21 year old man where he continued to launch a sword on its pupils and teachers. A teacher was killed at the scene, with another being taken to hospital along with an 11 and a 15 year old boy. The 11 year old later died in hospital of his injuries.

Those who witnessed the photograph above being taken have stated they were under the impression the assailant was part of a Halloween prank, and did not know the full extent to which Lundin-Petterson would go to.

The suspect is suggested as Anton Lundin-Petterson, from Trollhättan and it has been stated that he expressed extreme right-wing views on his social media pages. It has been suggested by investigators that Lundin-Petterson had previously shown interest in sites and youtube pages that has links Nazism and supported the anti-immigration party  and other right-wing politicians.

Students who witnessed the photograph above being taken have stated they were under the impression the assailant was part of a Halloween prank, and did not know the full extent to which events would unfold.

A sword and other knife-like weapons were found on the attacker, and police were forced to shoot after he started to turn on them as they entered the school.

In regards to the attack King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden made a statement of ‘dismay and sorrow…’Our thoughts are with those affected by this and their families, the victims who are now in critical condition in hospital, as well as the students and faculty of the school who now need all our support.’
